The Challenge

Growing up in North Etobicoke, I saw firsthand how many students lacked access to entrepreneurship and technology opportunities. Despite strong interest, many youth, especially those from minority backgrounds, did not have the resources, mentorship, or exposure needed to explore these fields.

The Solution

I co-founded Capptivate, a six-week virtual technology incubator designed to introduce high school students to entrepreneurship, business, and emerging technologies. The program combined workshops, hackathons, design sprints, market research activities, and mentorship from professionals across organizations such as Google, Uber, Microsoft, LinkedIn, Duke University, and SHAD Canada.

Impact & Takeaways

• Designed a six-week learning experience around student needs, helping 15 visible minority students build confidence in entrepreneurship, technology, and app development.
• Guided participants through the product-building cycle, from ideation and market research to prototyping, beta testing, and final pitches.
• Built programming around UI/UX, emerging technology, customer validation, business strategy, and product storytelling.
• Led a cross-functional team across curriculum, outreach, publicity, and participant experience to bring the program from idea to execution.
• Placed 1st internationally out of 200+ teams at DECA ICDC in the Project Management category.
• Learned how to design user-centered programs, test ideas quickly, and build solutions that create access for underserved communities.
